World Book Day saw everyone dressing up as their favourite book characters and all the staff were characters out of Julia Donaldson’s 'Zog'. The staff as usual entered into the spirit of it and stayed till nine o’clock one evening making dragon masks to wear! No one was left out and the cast included Zog the Dragon, Princess Pearl and Sir Gadabout. To the children’s surprise (horror?) we then put on a performance for them in the hall. It was the biggest dragon fest the school has seen in its 176 year history!

We also celebrated Red Nose Day for Comic Relief and had a Topsy Turvy Day where everything was upside down and inside out. Teachers wore their clothes the wrong way round and inside out, and the school day started at the end with collective worship moving backwards to the first period of the day. Pudding was the first course at lunch and the pupils thought it was very funny. Which it was! We also raised £70 for the charity.

Year 6 also completed the Bikeability course and I’m happy to say that all 16 riders were found road-worthy! The training involved not just road awareness and care, but also maintaining the bike and keeping it roadworthy.
