February 2025 Blog
We kicked off with activities for Children’s Mental Health Week. This involved every class trying to highlight mental health every day. For example, what is mental health? What makes you happy? Or sad? Why is mental health important? Creators class joined in the BBC Mental Health live lesson and discussed how to support others and recognise mental health problems in yourself.
We had our Spring Disco where the pupils after school (!) got into their finest glitter and raised £200 for trips and equipment. The money came from the sale of tickets (£1.50 each), sweets and drinks.
We also held a Safer Internet Week where all classes focussed on things to stay safe online and on their phones. This is hugely important in this day of online abuse and compromised data. We discussed how to deal with it and who are trusted adults to talk to when things go wrong.
At the school this is taken very seriously and part of all the teachers’ safeguarding training. Every Wednesday is Wake up Wednesday! This entails sharing with parents warnings of what children should not be looking at and providing further knowledge and depth on popular sites, games and apps. Also how to ensure you have go the correct parent controls on.
