Modern Foreign Languages Vision
At St Margaret’s Primary School the French curriculum is designed to give children the opportunity to verbally express their ideas and thoughts in French as well as understand and respond to written texts. They will be taught a balance of spoken and written language for a range of familiar topics and will learn to communicate ideas, facts and feelings in a variety of ways. French lessons will provide learning experiences that engage, enthuse and motivate all of our learners, through the use of songs and games, rhymes, poems, real life texts and role play.
Children at St Margaret’s begin to learn French on our reception class. They learn simple words and greetings. This is then built on as they continue through school
Learning French will also enable children to foster a more international outlook and become more culturally aware of festivals and customs from French speaking countries.
