Intent

At St Margaret’s, we are passionate about the need to highlight and promote the importance of an active lifestyle and PE for young children.  Our children will see a healthy lifestyle as achievable and something to be enjoyed day to day.

Our vision for Physical Education and Sport is that every child has the opportunity to take part in physical activity regularly and become more physically confident and competent. We support every child to develop a passion for sport and develop the skills and attitudes necessary to have a lifelong commitment to lead healthy and active lifestyles. We are passionate about raising participation levels as well as improving the health and well-being of our all our pupils.

Our aim is to deliver a high-quality PE curriculum that inspires all pupils, as well as offer a wide range of extra-curricular activities and intra-school competitions. PE lessons are inclusive to all and every child has the opportunity to achieve.

Implementation

  • A diverse and broad curriculum is developed and supported by the IPEP programme
  • Improved teacher knowledge and skills supported by IPEP training
  • Leadership and coaching skills of children developed in PE lessons
  • Specialist sports coach to enhance the curriculum experience for pupils.
  • After school club with a focus on physical activity
  • Competitions – enter local football, cross country, rugby, netball competitions and any others that arise

Impact
