Shuffle Up Afternoon gave pupils the chance to shuffle up to their next class where they would start in September. This meant they could meet their new teacher and get to know others joining them in the new class with Getting to Know You activities. For example, finding someone who shares your favourite colour or cheese.

We also held Dare to be Different Day where all the children pay 50p per school rule broken. Some wore nail varnish and crazy hair. Others came as Batman and Woody from Toy Story. And we had our fair share of pirates and princesses! As Head Teacher I was very boring and only managed to wear jeans for my 50p. But altogether we raised a healthy £200, which went to the PTA to pay for things we do outside the curriculum like hiring coaches to go to the panto at Christmas. The funds also contributed to our new outdoor classroom.

At the end of term we had our traditional Year 6 Classtonbury – the leaving service and farewell show by Year 6 under the tree on our little hill. The tree was festooned with ribbons, tinsel and balloons, and parents brought picnics. The contributions included memories, songs and poems.
