We had a very busy May and the centre piece was our Coronation Party where we held a picnic in the grounds. We were delighted to welcome 120 people and had some unbelievable cakes in our St Margaret’s Cake Off. Bethany from Year 3 won with her magnificent creation in the shape of a crown. The accolade was reached through a Facebook vote. Super work, Bethany!

We also celebrated our 175^th birthday and received a plaque from Ed Gregory, Head of Education at the Diocese of Bath Wells. Ed told us that Bishop Michael will come over at a later date to present the plaque himself and that we are the oldest school in the Diocese! But very young at heart!!

Andy Kendall, Mayor of Yeovil, also visited for our party and was an amazing sport, taking part in the tug-o-war and skittles. He also sat with the children, eating ice cream. He’s a lovely man and invited us to go and see him in his Chambers.

Our car washing was a great success with Year 6 volunteering to ensure that everyone in the year, whatever their budgets, could go off for the end of year residential trip at Braeside Adventure Centre. Together with the Tea and Cakes in Warm Place, which they organised in the school in the Easter Term, they raised £600. This a fantastic amount from some fantastic students who did it all off their own bat. Well done! It is so heartening that these children were determined that everyone, no matter what their circumstances, could join in the residential.

Lastly, the children have set up a Seed Swap Stall at the school for everyone in the village to enjoy. They harvested and labelled seeds from their work in the school gardens, and have made factsheets. You take home the children’s seeds and place your own at the stall, so everyone wins.
