Well, well! This month we experienced an historic event … for the first time in our 150 years’ existence, we received a letter from Buckingham Palace. The Queen wrote thanking our children for all their pictures and news about Green Projects at the school, and especially planting a Ginko Tree in her honour. ‘The Queen hopes your Ginko Tree will flourish and grow in the years to come and thanks you all for the lovely letter you wrote about your primary school and its various projects aimed at helping the local environment…’ read the letter signed by a Lady-in-Waiting, Jennifer Gordon-Lennox.

The Western Gazette ran a lovely story with a photo, headlined: ‘Thrilled to receive their first letter from the Queen’, which was greatly appreciated.

Our Creator Class (8-11-year-olds) visited the Museum of Somerset in Taunton to find out about the work of Brian Rice, a former pupil here. Born in 1936, Brian was at the forefront of British Modernism in the 60s and worked in the same circles as David Hockney, Peter Blake and Jo Tilson. Our new generation of Rices were very inspired and created their own art inspired by Brian.

This month we also installed our very first Smart Board and had school photos taken of all the children
