January 2024 Blog

And they scored! We’re very proud that eight of our girls have been invited to Yeovil Town Football Club to take part in training with their Elite Training Squad next month. I love it, and it’s a great opportunity for them. They make me so proud. This follows four weeks of training sessions with a young player from the Club, who came to give skills sessions to Years 5 and 6, which the children loved. We were lucky to be one of just 10 primary schools in South Somerset to be selected for the sessions and now Yeovil Town have invited the children for a stadium tour at Huish Park.

Tea-riffick Tuesdays. Year 6 pupils have started raising funds for their residential trip in the summer, which we run every year for school leavers. They are running free tea, coffee and biscuits at the school on Tuesday afternoons between 2 and 3:30 and all donations are welcome. The trip is very expensive and all money raised reduces the price each child pays.

Entrepreneurs abound. Other ways of raising money which the pupils themselves have developed, are selling home-made popcorn as well as bespoke keyrings. At 50p each you can order your own keyring with a photo of your choice - this could be your dog or a favourite band!

Shhhh! Lastly, in January we have been tickling the children’s curiosity by announcing from time to time in assembly that a secret will be revealed on World Book Day (8th March). A secret involving wigs, teachers and … mice! Watch this space!!!
