Today we had a virtual visit from Rabbi Shoshanna Boyd Gelfand. She told us about the origins of Hanukkah. She told us about the heroic men and woman, focusing on Judah and Judith and how they saved their people.
We found out about the different food that is eaten during Hanukkah and its symbolism. We learnt that candles are lit and why this happens. She showed us her dreidle and explained the game that Jewish people play during Hanukkah. Lot's of us decided that this game would be really fun.
We found out about when Jewish people get presents and whether they put up decorations (which was a question we asked the author). We were very excited to hear our class being called out on the video call.
