We held a Roald Dahl Day on the 13th and all the children dressed up as their favourite characters. Wonka Bars were on sale and each class had a Golden Ticket in one of the bars which delivered a Roald Dahl-related prize. This was very entertaining and the prizes included books, stickers and colouring books, which were all donated. I’m sure Dahl would have loved it.
Carymoor Environmental Trust visited us and did workshops on Schools and Waste. The charity, which is supported by Chris Packham, has a message for all the schools in the county of Reduce Reuse Recycle and its representative was blown away by what we are doing with our gardening and Forest School. Also we showed him our harvesting of onions, potatoes, carrots and even late strawberries. He was also impressed by our Grow & Cook project and stayed on for a food tasting!
Our athletes visited Yeovil Rugby Club for the first cross country race of the season in pouring rain. Although we didn’t win, we did provide the greatest number of runners we have ever taken - altogether 12. One of our Year Two girls, went round two and a half rugby pitches with all the others from the team shouting encouragement! That is a long way!
Lastly, the whole school attended and actively participated in the Harvest Festival at St Margaret’s Church in the village. Years 5 & 6 organised all the classes to do a task. So, Explorers (Reception) made autumn collages with leaves; the Investigators Class wrote autumn poems and the Adventurers Class read Harvest prayers.
