Our Year 6 did their SATs exams and showed wonderful spirit and solidarity. Every morning they came into school and had a bacon or sausage buttie and fruit juice, chatted together and supported each other. It was excellent to see this and showed a positive attitude.

I’m very proud to report that we have won an OPAL Platinum Award for outdoor play and learning. Kate gave us 97/100 and said that’s the highest score she’s awarded! We are incredibly proud of everyone who has played a part in making this wonderful achievement possible, from our children and staff to our families and wider community. Also the children were recognised for the Play Charter they have established themselves. They earned this accolade from the way they play and how they explained it to her. A central focus was their paddling pool, which they have planned in the grounds and built themselves. Tools included wheelbarrows to carry water as our hose is too short; spades and a small digger which one of the dads is driving. The pool is a great success in this hot weather and there is always a queue.

Play is an important part of our curriculum at St Margaret’s School as it is social, fun and encourages sharing and communicating. Pupils love it that they have wellies and waterproofs for playing time even in the rain. What’s better than jumping in puddles?!
